Who We Are
Harmony Life Center (HLC) is a nonprofit organization serving Washington, Greene and southern Allegheny Counties, that exists to — Save Lives — through providing individuals and families a safe, nonjudgmental space for Recovery from their substance abuse issues. We are independently run and led by representatives of local recovery communities. We have a 15-member Board of Directors and have By-laws and is reviewed by audits through an accountant.
Our Guiding Principles
- We will address stigma in the community.
- We will help people build skills and relationships to achieve and maintain recovery.
- We will help people reach out for help when needed.
- We will help people feel less alone, even on hard days.
Philosophy of Service
HLC’s philosophy of service delivery is based on SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, branch of the US Dept of Dept of Health and Human Services) definition of Recovery:
Recovery is “a process of change through which individuals improve their Health and Wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.”— How SAMHSA defines Recovery

Eight Dimensions of Wellness
HLC believes that a person in recovery needs to address the domains of the wheel that have caused past problems in their addiction and/or recovery. HLC provides referral or on-site resources to all local services that can address these challenges.
